چکیده

This article proposes an application of the EXCELL model to microwave local multipoint distribution systems. With EXCELL, validated in many years of observations with a meteorological radar, rain is modeled by a population of exponentially-profiled raincells. Their statistics can be made to honor any given rainfall cumulative distribution function. It is, thus, possible to simulate synthetic precipitation events so that rain effects on various radio link topologies (point-to-point or multipoint) can be evaluated on each event. Both copolar and crosspolar effects were modeled, and the C/I and C/N statistics were evaluated for a large number of events.

Fuzzy Weight Controller Based Cell-site Diversity for Rain Fading Mitigation in Lmds Networks in the Tropics

Local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) is a broadband wireless access technology that operates at microwave frequencies above 25 GHz. However, severe attenuation due to excessive rain in tropical regions presents a major challenge for achieving reliable communication over such frequencies. To overcome this problem, cell-site diversity (CSD) can be deployed in cellulartype LMDS networks. I...

Co-channel Interference Assessment for Line-of-Sight and Nearly Line-of-Sight Millimeter-Waves Cellular LMDS Architecture

Behavior of co-channel interference in fixed wireless cellular systems, such as millimeter-waves Local Multipoint Distribution Service (LMDS), is different compared to what has been established for mobile microwave systems. This is due to utilization of a high-gain antenna for the subscriber. In this paper, first the analysis of signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) is presented for line-of-sight ...

Improvement of Metropolitan Wireless Networking Using Wireless Optical Mesh Networks

Many wireless networking systems were established to manipulate metropolitan networks in order to provide internet, voice, data, video and TV services in large cities. Two major systems were used for such services; Local Multipoint Distribution Service (LMDS) and Multi-channel Multipoint Distribution Service (MMDS). Both of these systems are fixed broadband access networks and both have problem...

Modeling of Texture and Color Froth Characteristics for Evaluation of Flotation Performance in Sarcheshmeh Copper Pilot Plant, Using Image Analysis and Neural Networks

Texture and color appearance of froth is a discreet qualitative tool for evaluating the performance of flotation process. The structure of a froth developed on the flotation cell has a significant effect on the grade and recovery of copper concentrate. In this work, image analysis and neural networks have been implemented to model and control the performance of such a system. The result reveals...

Asphalt Pavement Performance Model of Airport Using Microwave Remote Sensing Satellite

The purpose of this study is to build the binary logit model of an airport pavement that could monitor the pavement condition in near real time using microwave remote sensing satellite, then the relationship between the international roughness index (IRI) of an airport and backscattering values from PALSAR images of the ALOS satellite was determined. Total 390 data were used in analysis. This m...
